Part-time eLearning Instructional Designer /  ESL Copy Editor 
Rate: $23.00 CND/hour, 20 hours per week

Golden Voice English Online Education Inc. (GVE) is an e-learning company that provides an online English program for students based in China. Offering a curriculum that follows the Chinese public school system and is developed by education experts and industry-leading North American publishers, GVE focuses on speaking and listening skills, pairing experienced North American tutors with students in China in grades 1-9.

Position Summary

As a part-time instructional designer and copy editor, the individual will work remotely online with GVE’s Toronto Content Manager.  In addition to copy editing English language text, the candidate will be responsible for revising digital teaching materials and lesson plans.

The candidate will also demonstrate skills relevant to the modification, creation and animation features within Microsoft Powerpoint and graphic editing suites to ensure a consistent and quality lesson material.


Work closely with GVE’s Toronto Content Manager to get a thorough understanding of the existing curriculum and the learning cycles of GVE’s lesson packages.

Identify cultural elements integrated into language learning.

Edit and ensure aesthetically pleasing Power Point interactions and lesson plans for use by tutors weekly in an online real-time tutoring environment.

Partner with the Academic Operations Management via the Content Manager to edit teaching manuals, audio scripts, and other pedagogical material for use by tutors.


  • University degree in Education or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in TESL or TEFL
  • Previous experience with learning materials and lesson plans.
  • A solid understanding of Power Point tools (1 year) and functionality (Triggers, Animations, Hyperlinks, Layers, etc.).
  • Technologically fluent, with experience working remotely (Google Suite, Zoom/Skype).
  • Detail oriented, and dependable. Experience working under tight deadlines.
  • Proven skills in verbal and written communication. Native speaker fluency with English grammar (written and spoken), awareness of American/Canadian culture.


  • TESOL certificate (CELTA or comparable)
  • Experience teaching English in Asia.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of web-based-training instructional design.
  • Experience in training and managing teachers is an asset.
  • Experience in ESL publishing, such as content development or editing, is an asset.
